If you’re reading this you probably came here looking for my cast iron chicken parm recipe, or for the absolute best caesar salad dressing. Either that or you found me because Dave was tweeting about what he ate for dinner…
My philosophy on cooking isn’t rocket science. I believe that 50% of being a “good cook” is actually wanting to cook in the first place. The next 25% is having the ingredients or knowing how to shop for them, and the final 25% is yes, a little intuition and experience. In short, if you want to cook, you can be a good cook! If you don’t, and find no joy in it, you probably won’t be.
Fifteen years ago I ran out of money while living in NYC. I started taking pictures at restaurants of my favorite meals and menus and tried my best to recreate them at home on a tight budget. Fast forward to present day and I’m on a new journey cooking for twin toddlers and finding new and adventurous ways to make meals my entire family actually wants to eat. I’m a former media producer with no professional culinary training, and like you I just enjoy cooking and eating really good food.
One last thing. You know how every single food blog and recipe on the internet makes you scroll roughly 20 times while you dodge advertisement after advertisement (often clicking one by accident!) just to get to the ingredient list, and then they make you close out of a pop up advertisement before you get to the instructions? How is this even legal!? My promise to you is never scrolling through any advertisements to find the recipe, nor will you have to read about my entire day before you get to an ingredient list. Just simple, clear, easy to read recipes that you can trust.
I’m managing to cook and share recipes while twin toddlers hang on my back. If I can do it, so can you! Welcome to David’s Cookbook.
RECIPES
This is a collection of all of the recipes I love to make whether for a formal 15 person sit down dinner or a casual weeknight meal for two.
KIDS RECIPES
These are recipes I feed my twin toddlers, and they actually like to eat (well, most of the time.) If you have kids you know mealtime can either be a moment of despair or a moment of triumph. I can’t make any promises other than to say these recipes have saved my sanity and I hope at least one or two can do the same for you!
THE ONLY
My mission with The Only is to share the only recipes you’ll ever need. The only roast chicken, the only burger, the only chocolate chip cookie… you get the point. Instagram and TikTok are oversaturated with recipes and, honestly, who has the time? My recipes are thoughtfully put together drawing on inspiration from my favorite cookbooks and chefs (and yes, instagram) and are made dozens of times before they are shared here.
